Blade

Period: Muromachi period (Eisho era, 1504-1521).

Mei: Bingo no jyu Masatsugu

Sugata: Shinogi-zukuri, tori-zori, iori-mune.

Overall length: 21.69 inches (551.00 mm).

Nagasa: 17.20 inches (437.00 mm).

Nakago: 4.49 inches (114.00 mm).

Kissaki: Sugu-hakikake boshi

Moto-haba: 0.85 inches (21.50 mm). Saki-haba: 0.80 inches (20.40 mm). Moto-gasane: 0.26 inches (6.60 mm). Saki-gasane: 0.20 inches (5.10 mm).

Sori: 0.35 inches (9.00 mm).

Hamon: Gunome with ko-ashi, sunagashi and kinsuji.

Hada: Itame and mokume with utsuri and chikei.

Blade condition: In excellent condition for any blade and in superb condition for a koto sword. In fresh polish. No chips, ware or fatal flaws.

Mounts:

In shirasaya.

NTHK Yushu saku paper. The smith is Masatsugu of Bingo prefecture.
